The veterinarians at Mercer Island Veterinary Clinic are trained to provide a wide variety of surgical services. Soft tissue surgery and dentistry are performed Monday through Friday and one Saturdays per month on an outpatient basis. We work with area overnight hospitals if your pet requires overnight care. With most surgery, the patient is admitted in the morning between 7:30 and 8:00am with discharge times between 4:00 and 6:00pm.
Examples of surgeries we commonly perform include:
- Surgical sterilization (spay and neuter)
- Dentistry
- Mass or tumor removal
- Foreign object retrieval
- Ear flap hematomas
- Laceration and wound treatment
- Biopsy of internal organs
- And a variety of other soft tissue surgery
- Visiting surgical specialist performs Cruciate Ligament repair surgeries including OTT/ECS and TPLO
This x-ray is of a large dog who swallowed a very large rock. The rock created a life-threatening intenstinal obstruction. Fortunately we were able to surgically remove the rock and the dog had a great outcome.
This x-ray is of a dog with hip dysplasia which lead to severe arthritis pain. Because of our good relationships with area specialists, we were able to locate a surgeon to perform a hip replacement. After surgery this dog’s quality of life was greatly improved and she continues to do very well.
Complex procedures such as chest surgery and brachycephalic airway correction are also available. Working with travelling surgical specialists, we are able to provide these services right on Mercer Island, allowing our patients to remain in familiar surroundings and our clients to work with the staff and doctors they know and feel comfortable with.
