Monique Feyrecilde BA, LVT, VTS Behavior is a licensed veterinary technician and certified technician specialist in behavior.
Together, Dr. Krug and Monique work to help families throughout the Pacific Northwest.
First time clients: Getting started is a 2-step process.
Step 1: Establish a legal Veterinary Client-Patient Relationship with Mercer Island Veterinary Clinic. The VCPR exam must be performed in-person at least once every 12 months. The appointment can be made with Dr. Roller, Dr. Flint, or Dr. Krug.
After this exam, our team can legally diagnose and prescribe for your pet. You will be asked to pre-pay for this visit to reserve your appointment. This payment is non-refundable.
What to expect:
- A physical examination within your pet’s tolerance
- Review of prior medical records
- We will not be establishing behavior diagnoses or treatment planning during this establish care appointment.
This visit may range from a visual exam only all the way up to a comprehensive physical examination depending upon the pet’s response to the visit. Allow 60 minutes for this appointment.
Step 2: After we have a legal VCPR, we will make your Behavior Care appointments with Dr. Krug and the behavior team. These appointments can be done in-person or via telemedicine. Your pet is not required to attend these appointments. If your pet finds the clinic environment stressful, please plan to conduct your appointments via telemedicine unless directed otherwise by Dr. Krug.
Your relationship with Dr. Krug and the behavior team will be ongoing. It will consist of a first visit and multiple follow-up visits.
Before your first visit, you’ll be asked to fill in the detailed behavior history form. You will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit when scheduling this visit to reserve your appointment.
What to expect – Dr. Krug will:
- Review the history provided, ask additional questions, and observe your pet
- Determine if behavior diagnoses are present
- Order any additional medical tests if needed
- Discuss whether medications, supplements, or both are recommended
- If recommended, discuss how medications work and what to expect
- Prescribe a treatment plan (lifestyle assessment, behavior management, behavior modification, and training) to be coached either by MIVC’s behavior team or a colleague outside the clinic
- Set up a progress check schedule for ongoing care
Before each follow-up visit, you’ll be asked to fill in the behavior update form. No deposit is required for follow-up visits.
Most behavior patients benefit from a whole team approach: Pet family, veterinary team, and a consulting or training team. If you don’t have an existing consulting or training team, we will work to connect you with a good fit.
Before each appointment, we will check in with your consulting or training team for an update as well.
