Monique Feyrecilde, LVT, VTS (Behavior)
Monique joined the Mercer Island Veterinary Clinic team in March, 1997.
She holds a BA in Psychology, is a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Washington, and serves as a technician as well as the Hospital Manager for the clinic.
She is a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Behavior, one of only 14 such specialists worldwide. Her special interests are applied animal behavior of all species and proactive preventive medical care. She has traveled extensively throughout the US educating other veterinary professionals about behavior and pet-friendly veterinary care. She is a curriculum developer for the Fear Free Certification Program, and is the co-author of Cooperative Veterinary Care.
In 2015, Monique was named Veterinary Technician of the Year for the USA and Canada by PetPlan.
Outside of the clinic, Monique enjoys teaching classes for dogs and their owners in Cooperative Veterinary Care and advanced obedience and agility skills. Her group classes are held at Seattle Agility Center. Monique also offers private consultations in obedience and behavior modification for dogs and cats both through MIVC and in-home.
Monique’s pets include dogs Lucy, Zora, Rye, and Kestrel, Frankie the cat, and an African Grey parrot named Stanley. Also sharing the house are two pet snakes, Agador and Ebenezer Squeezer. She competes at the national level in agility and stockdog events with her dogs. They all enjoy spending time at the beach, hiking and camping with her husband Sal.
Sarah Talat, LVT
Sarah joined the Mercer Island Veterinary Clinic team in 2000 and is a licensed veterinary technician. A mother of two, Sarah has a special interest in veterinary dentistry and oral health and is considering pursuing a Veterinary Technician Specialty in Dentistry. Sarah loves all of her patients, but has a special soft spot in her heart for poodles and schnauzers. Outside the clinic Sarah enjoys hiking, camping and spending time with her husband Mohamed and children Aidan and Ella, and her poodle Fifi.

Mary Taylor, Veterinary Assistant
Born and raised in the Puget Sound area, Mary “Phil” Taylor externed at MIVC in 2015 and joined our practice as a full time veterinary assistant in 2017. She is a graduate of Pima Medical Institute’s veterinary technician program and is training closely with the technical staff and doctors here at MIVC to become a licensed technician. In her spare time she loves karaoke, going to concerts, spending time with her cats Mister Cheech and Miss Kitty, and sitting with a good book.
Gretchen Landon, Client Services & Reception Supervisor
Gretchen received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Oregon before moving north with her Seattle Native husband. In her spare time she relishes time with her family, friends, and menagerie of pets as well as reading and traveling. Gretchen has been part of the MIVC team since 2006.
Mary Gallacher, Client Relations and Reception
Born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, Mary has always had a life long love for animals. She took her first steps into the animal care field in 2007 when she started working at a boarding facility and two vet clinics in their boarding departments before making her way up to Washington in 2014 where she started as a receptionist. She enjoys taking care of both the clients and their pets with her kind and friendly nature. When she is not in the office, she can usually be found in Tacoma either unwinding at home with a nerdy show or movie with her fiancee, her pit bull Sandor, her cat Arya and her iguana Daenerys or she is out and about enjoying local shows and exploring the city.
